You know those vision boards that we put together at the beginning of the year? Ghana was one of the countries that I listed when it came to my travel goals. To cut a long story short, write it down, pray and believe it will happen at the right time.
I believe this is the right time for me to be in Ghana.
After reading and contemplating Ghana for close to four years now. I took a bold step, bought a plane ticket and flew to Ghana.
The arrival
Akwaaba was not the only warm welcome I received at the Kotoka International Airport. I was greeted by the scorching sun. When I mean scorching, it’s not Limpopo Province hot. This heat is the kind of heat that has you dripping of sweat just as you step out of the plane. The heat in Ghana is alone an introduction to West Africa.
Welcome to the land of Kwame Nkrumah.
When my feet touched the soil, I felt alive. Something in me awakened. It is the bustling of the motorcycles, street vendors and chaotic traffic that will have your eyes glued to the scenery. There is something about the aroma of the air that will revive your spirit. The beautiful melanin is breath-taking. I felt alive. Ghana, found me and I found Ghana.
This is the Africa I hoped to see, and Ghana did that for me. As Ghana embraces me for the next few of days, I plan to absorb and take in all the beauty. I look forward to speaking with Ghanaians and to learning about Ghana.
Welcome to Ghana, the peaceful land and land of Nkurumah.
