When I joined LinkedIn back in my first year of university, I was very naïve. I had this vision that after creating the platform job opportunities would be flooding my direct messages. I was under the impression that having a LinkedIn profile guaranteed me opportunities.
Well, three years on the platform I had an awakening. To the young and old person reading this, LinkedIn requires so much dedication and commitment. Having a LinkedIn profile is just not about sending through your applications. This is a platform that teaches you to network, build working relationships and market yourself free of charge.
LinkedIn not only gives you access to recruiters however, LinkedIn is also for yourself. You have this amazing platform that connects you to the rest of the world. An educational platform with resources that equip you for the workplace or entrepreneurship.
Changing my perception of LinkedIn helped me to understand my role on this platform. I have had the opportunity to network across the world, establish meaningful friendships and expose my written work. My role on this platform is not only to “click on the apply button’’ however, it’s to apply myself and the many life lessons I have learnt.
Maybe, it’s time for you to identify your role on this platform and see how it can benefit you. I say this with the utmost of respect, because job hunting does get exhausting. A little bit of exploring this platform can be beneficial to you professionally and personally in the long run.
Thank you so much for all the 3000+ followers. You helped me grow Botlhale Hub Afrika.
Thank you so much to the amazing people I have met on this platform.
