The African continent has come a long way in closing its gender gap. However, supporting women entrepreneurs can help promote gender parity and stimulate economic growth. According to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF’s) Global Gender Gap Report 2020 “sub-Saharan Africa also has the highest rate of entrepreneurship globally, and this is the only region where the majority of entrepreneurs are women”.
However, most women businesses remain stagnant and are unable to grow due to a range of factors.
Women entrepreneurs are locked out of the digital economy locally, regionally and globally.
Social norms continue to prevent women entrepreneurs to progress.
