The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the vulnerability of women to widespread economic and societal shocks. It is because of the shadow pandemic that we also saw an increase in cases of gender-based violence. In addition, the safety of children being compromised.

The COVID-19 pandemic also revealed the importance of schools and community organisations in our society.

Therefore, we cannot leave these organisations out in the Generation Equality forum. However, we need to continuously empower advocates from every sector of society – governments, civil society, private sector, entrepreneurs, trade unions, artists, academia and social influencers to see to it that gender equality becomes a reality.
